Ida has worked in a variety of different settings, which include residential treatment centres, detentions centres for youth, educational settings with children, and shelter settings with males and adults in the community. Ida provides individual and group counselling. She uses a variety of approaches including motivational interviewing, strength-based approaches, dialectical behavioural therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy. Together, they build on client strengths and she encourages individuals to participate fully in their treatment plans. Ida supports individuals who are struggling with depression, anxiety, grief and loss, addictions and trauma. Ida provides advocacy for clients in need of this type of support.
Ida is a Masters level Social Worker graduate with 18 years of experience working with adults and youth with mental illnesses, addictions, developmental disabilities and those diagnosed with multiple issues. She also holds a Child and Youth Care Worker Diploma from Algonquin College, a B.A. Honours Degree in Sociology and a Bachelor of Social Work Degree from Carleton University.
Ida receives clinical supervision through Clinical Psychologist Dr. Brenda Saxe.
