What he strives for, does, what I’m about

I take pride in helping my clients with practical aspects of addiction recovery, in a highly-personalized

and supportive way. Coaching focuses on the positive, the progress we make, and the achievements we

earn. Addiction and recovery are damaging to the mind and body. We can lose the best of ourselves, our

self-esteem, self-worth, self-care, etc. Together, we rebuild those parts. This is accomplished through

expanding knowledge of how addiction impacts our minds and bodies. It is aided by finding a recovery

program that fits them (e.g., SMART Recovery, AA, Recovery 2.0, etc.) and exploiting the best that the

program has to offer. It is enabled by developing useful, daily tools to cope with urges and triggers.

His background

I loved my 31-year career in the Royal Canadian Air Force. However, service came at a personal cost. In

2019 I was hit hard with PTSD, and turned to alcohol. Two years of focused work helped me to regain a

balanced and healthy life. Since then, I’ve worked and volunteered with military, police, and members of

the public as an addiction recovery coach and mental health peer support. My personal goal is

continuing to develop my education and skills to expand the variety and quality of services I can offer.

His client base

Addiction is not confined to any group in our society. By working with the client toward their goals, their

understanding of a healthy outcome, and within their chosen recovery pathway, I can offer support to

most clients. I’ve worked with military and the public, with friends & family of those in addiction, young

adults, and others. Working with addiction coach depends on our ability to work as a team. If we can

work together, we can progress together.

Specific strengths

My military service gave me extensive experience in solving complex problems, prioritization and

maintaining mission-focus. We learned many tools to help us accomplish the mission. My greatest

strength as a recovery coach lies in the variety of tools I can offer clients. Each client is different, and will

have their preferences and comfort zones. From change-management, to principles and values, to

understanding self-generated obstacles to our own recovery, we explore recovery tools and options

until we find those that work for you.

I am a member of Recovery Coaches Canada and an active Peer Support volunteer with the Canadian

Forces.
