HOW COACHING CAN HELP
Turn your goals into everyday steps.
You choose what you want to work on. Your coach brings encouragement, guidance, and practical ideas, while respecting your chosen recovery pathway.
Find your direction
Talk about concerns related to alcohol or other substances, their impact on your life, and the changes you would like to make.
Build helpful routines
Explore concerns about gambling, internet use, or gaming when these patterns are affecting your wellbeing, relationships, or daily responsibilities.
Navigate challenges
Discuss challenges in recovery, build practical coping strategies, and work toward goals that are meaningful to you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
A conversation.
A plan you shape together.
01. Start with what’s happening
Talk about recent experiences, what is working, and where you would like support.
Sessions are a space to reflect, explore options, and decide what comes next. Your coach helps keep the conversation constructive and focused on your recovery.
02. Explore practical tools
Discuss coping strategies, stress reduction, priorities, or changes to habits and routines.
03. Choose your next step
If you agree, set an activity or goal to try between sessions. Review it together and adapt as needed.
FINDING THE RIGHT SUPPORT
Is recovery coaching
right for you?
Coaching may be a helpful fit when you want practical, collaborative support to work toward recovery goals.
Understand the coach’s role
Recovery coaching has a different role from therapy, social work, or psychological care. A coach is also not a sponsor or a friend. Your coach will discuss these boundaries with you.
Make room for the care you need
If significant mental health concerns or unresolved trauma are affecting your recovery, coaching may not be the right support at this time. The intake team can help clarify which MHASO service may be appropriate.
